Rwanda Gorilla Tour - 8 days Gorilla Trekking Tour in Akagera, Nyungwe Forest & Volcanoes National Parks

Day 1: Arrive in Kigali
You will be met by our safari guide. Greet and transfer to hotel. [Approximate driving time: 30 minutes] Overnight and dinner at Hotel des Mille Collines/Hotel Umubano (BB).

Day 2: Wildife Tour in Akagera National Park
You will wake up early and have an early drive to Akagera National Park, East of Rwanda. Early morning game drive, carrying a packed lunch. A canoe ride on the lake is also rewarding. Return to Kigali. Overnight and dinner at Hotel des Mille Collines/Hotel Umubano (BB).

Day 3: Nyungwe Forest National Park Tour
Following Breakfast, you will start for Nyungwe Forest National Park. Along the way, make stops at places of interest including local markets, the traditional palace of Rwanda’s Former King in Nyanza. Drive past green fields of tea scattered across the hillsides and the small wooden houses unique to the areas surrounding Nyungwe Forest. Overnight at ORTPN Gisakura Guest House (FB).

Day 4: Guided Forest Walk
Guided nature walk in the forest to see a variety of animals and some of the three hundred bird species found here, which include the Rwenzori turaco and black and white casqued hornbill. Go on an escorted walk in search of large groups of colobus monkeys - sometimes as many as 400 in a group. OR go chimp tracking in the park. Picnic lunch. Return late afternoon. Overnight at ORTPN Gisakura Guest House (FB).

Day 5: Cultural Tour
Return to Kigali. In Butare, visit the Botanical Gardens and a cultural museum. Arrive in time for lunch. After lunch, you will drive north to Kinigi via Ruhengeri. Enjoy the rolling hills for which Rwanda is well known. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Hotel (FB).

Day 6: Gorilla Tracking In Parc National des Volcans
Transfer to Kinigi Park Headquarters to track gorillas in Parc National des Volcans. Gorilla tracking through the forest, hills and swamps can be tough, arduous and tiring, sometimes taking up to 8 hours in the forest. But coming face to face with the great primates is well worth the effort. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Hotel (FB).

Day 7: Community Visits/ Gorilla Tracking
After breakfast, you will either go gorilla tracking (on payment of US$375 gorilla permit supplement at time of booking) or climb the awesome Visoke volcano, or track the golden monkeys or trek to Karisoke Research Centre which Dian Fossey, the famous primatologist, set up, or visit local communities. Alternatively for those who are not up to it, simply relax at Camp. Dinner and overnight at Gorilla Nest Hotel (FB).

Day 8: Kigali City Tour
Leave for Kigali. If time allows, go for a tour of the city including shopping. Transfer to airport for your flight.
